There's a Mouse in the House!

So a few weeks ago I was sitting in the dining room and thought that I heard a noise coming from the kitchen that sounded like popcorn popping. I asked Cris to check it out for me and he said that he heard it too. Next thing I know, Cris slams the cabinet door close and he tells me that there was a mouse in there chewing on the tupperware! Yuck!!! How it got in the house, we have no idea. We've looked everywhere for an entry point and can't find one. Well we thought about calling a pest control company but then decided that it wouldn't be a good thing for them to spray chemicals and junk around when we have a little baby, so instead we set our own traps. We put one in the cabinet where we saw the mouse and one in the pantry just in case.
For a few days it seemed like the mouse had disappeared until I started to see mouse dropping in the pantry! Double yuck!!!!! Now I was really starting to worry because the traps didn't seem to be working and we couldn't have mice leaving droppings everywhere because that can carry diseases. Well, yesterday our problem was solved. The mouse finally got curious and the trap worked!!! Now I just have to keep an eye out for more mice just in case. We all ready have another trap set up. Lets hope that there won't be anymore mice!

Raspberries

Yesterday we went up to Hershey to visit Grandma and Grandpa Schaeffer. We did Easter with the Chick family last week and so we thought that it would be nice to go and visit the other half of the family : ). It was a lot of fun to see them again. Navie was very well behaved at church and full of smiles and laughs afterward. She got to wear her new dress that Grandma Chick made. I picked out the fabric and made her flower clip and bracelet. Navie looked really sweet and girlie : ). She was definitely the talk of the ward!

Navie is such a ham! She now likes to blow raspberries : ). Here is a little video of her doing it. You have to listen pretty good to hear it since I was changing her diaper at the time and it was crinkling. Its really cute to be in the other room and to hear her making noises : ).

No No No No No

I just can't get enough of our little girl! Every day there is something new that she does that gets me laughing. I took this video about two weeks ago. I take so many pictures and videos that it takes me awhile to figure out what I want to post. In this video Navie is telling me "no". She will tell us "no" at the funniest times. The other night Cris was trying to tickle me on the couch. When he let me catch my breath we looked down and Navie was looking up at us and shook her "no". It was to die for!!! That got us laughing all over again : ). Well here it is. I hope you all enjoy : )

FINALLY!!!

First let me start off by giving a BIG thanks to Steve and Holly for allowing me to spend the night at their place last night. Your hospitality is much appreciated. Today I had a 3 year dream of mine come true. I am now the VERY proud owner of an M1 Garand rifle!

Some background...I've wanted one of these pieces of history for 3 years now. The past several months have been spent saving and researching . Finally I had the funds and means to order it, however the Civilian Marksmanship Program had to change the wait time on orders. Instead of waiting 90 days for processing, the wait was now 3-6 months! Sorry, since I had the funds and means to get one, I decided there was only one thing to do... Road Trip! Sadly, Brooke and Navie could not come since I could only get today off of work. So I did a whirlwind trip to Camp Perry in Ohio.

If you're interested in a surplus rifle or other militaria click here:

The Civilian Marksmanship Program

Now to the rifle...

It's a Springfield Armory M1. All the parts but one are made by Springfield. Stock is original with SA cartouche and proof mark. It looks pretty beat up, but that's what I like. It makes you wonder who carried it and what happened to them. Once it's cleaned up and all the oil and gunk is taken out of the stock it should look pretty sweet.

One of my "must haves" was a World War 2 rifle. I scoured the racks till I wound up with this little baby. ;) As you can see in this picture the serial number is 797346. That puts my rifle being born in 1942!!!!!! Hooray! You'd think in this late date that all the WW2 rifles would be snatched up by collectors, but not so. I REALLY lucked out with this one!

So now I need to have it checked and cleaned by a gunsmith before shooting it, but I'm getting pretty antsy! I also got 2 spam cans of ammo. 192 rounds each. I can't wait to go burn that through this beauty. And yes, even though it sounds corny.....her name is Annabelle. ;)

Easters Coming

As everyone already knows, Easter is just around the corner and of course that means a new holiday picture of Navie. I wasn't going to post it until Sunday but I just can't wait anymore : ). I took it a few days ago when the weather was nice and have wanted to share it with everyone. I hope you all enjoy it and have a great Easter.

7 months

Navie turned 7 months old today. I still can't believe how fast time is going. Navie's new thing lately is to push herself with her legs when she is sitting until she gets onto her belly. It's cute to watch her try. She's not quite sure what to do whence she gets herself there but I think she might be figuring out the crawling thing. She's starting to show the first signs. She still doesn't have a complete grasp of it but it looks like with more practice she just might get it.
